Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in January in the Red Rock State Park, USA.

Time

This was probably the best morning of our tour. We walked around in the cold winter morning and the clouds and colors were ridiculously. It was taken January 16, 2018.

Lighting

We spent the whole day in this beautiful park. The beautiful light and the mountains inspired me to take a lot of HDR’s. HDR photos always have a surreal touch and are therefore extremely exciting to the viewer.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D800, 70-200 mm f/2.8, tripod, different exposures and later developed into hdr photos in post-processing.

Inspiration

The surroundings, the unreal clouds and the red color of the mountains inspired me to take this photo.

Editing

I took 5 pictures with different exposures on a tripod. And the taken photos are merged into an HDR photo with Photoshop. The software uses this to calculate an image with an increased range of contrast.

In my camera bag

i always have two cameras with me, just in case one breaks. Which lenses I take with me depends on what I want to photograph. But mostly I have three lenses with me: Nikkor 18-35 mm, Nikkor 35-70 mm and Nikkor 70-200 mm. Because I am often too lazy to always repack my backpack.

Feedback

I wanted to go to the USA in winter. This has the great advantage that there are few tourists in the national parks. The snow creates beautiful contrasts, there are more clouds than in summer and the light is softer. The peace and loneliness are like meditation for me. No, it's meditation.Tthese are the moments for which I am very grateful.
