Location
In the entrance of an underground station in Berlin. I crouched in what must of been a rather dark corner of the u Bahn station entrance.. I don’t think anyone noticed me otherwise the reactions would have been hilarious!Time
It was the middle of the sunny day, which meant everyone couldn’t see as they walked from the bright outside to the relatively dark station, helping me capture the natural day to day situations without a specific reaction.Lighting
All natural. I love having a subject in a frame with a backlight.Equipment
Nothing special. I think it was my Nikon3100 and a 35mm 1.8 DX lens.Inspiration
I had seen a number of photos on ViewBug which featured natural / building frames and I wanted to find my own. It’s a game changing.Editing
I created this black and white version in Lightroom. I usually take all my pictures in colour and work on the RAW to create the desired effect. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know how Lightroom works and i learn something new every time I edit.In my camera bag
For street photography I carry my Nikon DSL , a 35mm DX prime (I love that fixed focal range and the fact I have to move) but I also carry a 18-200 lens too. I rarely switch to the later unless I need something wide angle. I find myself getting lazy with composing when I have a zoom.Feedback
Go out and see what’s around you. Try to find the view that we don’t see everyday.
