Location
This photo was taken at Fox Island County Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was hiking a main path on my way to the lake and was struck by the range of colors and how nature just lined everything up for me off to my left behind the parking lot.Time
It was October 28, 2020, mid-afternoon around 2:30 PM.Lighting
The way the sunlight was falling over the beautiful autumn colors and bouncing off the bright blue of the sky provided the perfect natural lighting for this shot.Equipment
I took this shot with a hand-held Canon 90d, using an EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 lens with a custom white balance. I used a grey card before taking this shot to ensure the proper color.Inspiration
This is actually a very complicated question for this particular picture. This park, Fox Island, is a place very near and dear to my heart. It has been my favorite local place to escape for over 25 years. Someone very important to me even worked at this park for many years, and on this particular day, October 28, I was drawn to the park to reminisce about the lost life of that individual on their birthday. When I looked to my left and saw this scene, it felt like this was the moment I was drawn here for.Editing
My post-processing was done via Adobe Lightroom Classic. I made basic standard adjustments to enhance the photo to be more true to life.In my camera bag
My bag contains a range of Canon and Sigma lenses, most with hoods, sekonic light meter, grey cards, extra batteries and cleaning supplies, a 430ex speedlite with attachable softbox and diffuser, a 5-in1 collapsible reflector/diffuser panel, and my convertible tri/monopodFeedback
My advice is simple. Look around you and really SEE the beauty in your surroundings. Stay prepared at any moment because sometimes the best shots are quite Seryndipitous!
