Behind The Lens

Location

I traveled to Perth, Western Australia to spend a few days taking photos and trying to get some good sharp images.

Time

This shot was taken around 10pm as I walked back to my car after a stroll across the river, among the site at the centre of this image.

Lighting

I was hoping to get Perth with a clear reflection on the river but the wind did not abate for my entire visit an I ended up having to fake a reflection; which is what this is.

Equipment

Canon 6D, Canon 24-105 Lens and a tripod.

Inspiration

I wanted to get as much detail as possible.

Editing

As this is a panorama I used Lightroom to stitch the photos together. Then I cleaned up the dust spots and adjusted the colours, etc. Lastly I used Photoshop to create a black and white version of the image, invert it and pasted it over the river portion of the image to simulate a reflection.

In my camera bag

I usually carry everything, camera, three lenses, filters, spare batteries, spare memory cards, monopod, tripod (if I'm in the car), cable release, flash, lens cleaning products, a torch, pliers, pen, paper, the list goes on.

Feedback

I took these panorama shots in landscape which prove very limiting in the vertical plane when I stitched them together. I would advise using portrait when creating panoramas since you can always crop it down later.
