I took this photo while sitting in my living room chair working on camera settings and repacking my camera pack. I really wasn't planning on shooting any photos but the more she sat there frozen, the more I knew I needed an image of her. Being colorblind, I see things a little differently, so when I noticed the way the light looked to me on her head it reminded me of a halo. So I tried to capture what I saw.Time
It was night with all artificial light coming from the room and Christmas tree.Lighting
I wanted to try and capture the glow I could see on her head coming from the television and Christmas tree. I ended up going with f/5.6, 1/10 at iso 3200 which was still a little off. By shooting raw I was able to keep the detail and recover a little on the exposure.Equipment
I used a Nikon 5600 with a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6GInspiration
As I was setting up the camera with the new lense and my daughters dog, Delilah, who thinks she's my dog decided it was time to play. As I continued to ignore her, working out my settings and organizing my pack, she sat there frozen until I had to laugh and take a photo.Editing
In Lightroom I adjusted the exposure up a tad and cut on the lense correction to test it out with the new lense. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon 5600 with the Nikon 18-300/3.5-5.6, a 18-55/3.5-5.6 and a 85mm/3.5 micro (Which I've "borrowed" from my Mom-beelady05 which got me started in Photography and view bug) with me all the time. I never know what or how I might want to shoot something.Feedback
First just have fun, that's the point of photography for me. I would also say know the behavior of what you're shooting if its any type of animal. I knew she would sit there frozen in that position until I put down the camera and got up to play with her. That gave me time to setup and try different shots to get the one I liked. Of course, then I got up and played!
