Location
This spot is a favorite in the Laural Highlands of PA along Laurel Creek.Time
I shot this in the afternoon on a semi cloudy day so there would be good light on the background treesLighting
Diffuse afternoon light with damp leaves and rocks really boost the natural colors. Down in a small stream like this you usually don't want any direct lighting as it can be extremely harsh among the trees.Equipment
My equipment was a Nikon Z7 with a 14-30 f:4 lens on a tripod. I used 2 images stacked to give it a little better water flow.Inspiration
Moving water is always a favorite of mine. Flowing water is always enchanting. It is often the quiet places like this that speak the loudest to your soul.Editing
I merged 2 images in Aurora to give a better flow look to the water and kept the HDR to a minimum so that it enhanced the colors and shadows without being overdone. In my camera bag
I keep my equipment to a small bag with my Nikon Z7, a Nikkor Z 14-30 F:4, A Nikkor Z 24-70 F:4 and a Sigma 100-400 f:5.6 - 6.3. That package I can keep in a small pack and it covers a great range.Feedback
The main thing is to watch the weather and just get out. Small streams are often dependent on rains for any action. Wet conditions enhance the colors and diffuse lighting keeps the scene within pleasing limits.
