Location
Last time I went to London, I took the time, while walking through the city, to look up to the sky, instead of looking around and behind me (what I still often do). And it was then that I saw these leading lines and a quarter of empty space. The sky was cloudy, with a ray of light sometimes. And when I took this photo, it all came together.Time
I remember it was a cold day, around the 15th Nov. After we finished a shoot with a client, I walked back to my hotel. It was late in the afternoon around 17.00h local time.Lighting
The light in November, around 17.00 h, is not ideal to take a good photo. But when you're shooting up in the sky, you can only hope that the light, in the sky and the light striking the buildings is enough to make a good photo.Equipment
I used my Canon 700D with a Canon lens (EFS 18-135 f3.5- ISO 100). The shutter was at 1/200 and no tripod was used.Inspiration
Looking at the sky, when you are surrounded by big buildings, is very fascinating. You try to see the leading lines and open spaces by moving around and trying different poses towards the buildings.Editing
Not much post-processiong was done. A black & white conversion and some dodge and buring to some of the building walls. In my camera bag
When working in the field, I only carry my camera and a lens with me. The rest is unnecessary weight.Feedback
Keep your eyes open en look above and behind you and don't hesitate to retrace your steps if you see an interesting object or scene.
