Behind The Lens

Location

Photowas taken in Wroc?aw in Poland, right next to the Doll Theatre. My model Patrycja is a promising student of Acting School.

Time

It was 7th November at 11:52, so it was almost midday but this day was a bit cloudy, so we had a huge light reflector above our heads.

Lighting

Very subtle sunlight was creating smooth shadows on my model's face but at the same time it was glowing up her eyes and skin, which I really loved. I wanted to focus on one part of her face, to create an atmosphere of a hidden emotion.

Equipment

This wasshot on Nikon D850 with Sigma 1.4 Art 85 mm.

Inspiration

We were going to make a usual Autumn photoshoot, but the black hat which was taken by my model to the photoshoot just gave me an idea of some more mysterious pictures.

Editing

As usual, I did some beauty retouch of the skin, I lighten up her eyes a bit and turned it into the BW. I made the picture look more smooth, by taking the highlight down and bringing up some blacks and shadows.

In my camera bag

I always take a wide-angle lens, 35 mm Nikkor or 24 mm Sigma. Then, a sharp 85 mm from Sigma is my must-have for beauty portraits. Next is my favourite body, Nikon D850. The last thing I always have with me is a small light reflector (just in case :)

Feedback

I can only say: try, try, try and try. Have fun with the light, with your model's poses and with every equipment you have on the photoshoot. Change the perspective, and observe how the light and shadows look at the model face.
