Location
This photo was taken in a park, just up the road from my house in Rossendale (UK). Working from home this year has allowed me to go for walks on my dinner break, for some fresh air and time to destress. I like to take my camera wherever I go, as there is always something that catches my eye.Time
At this time of year, we are lucky to get any daylight after 4pm, so getting out of the house on my dinner break is an important part of my daily routine. I took this shot at 2pm on 4th November.Lighting
I wanted plenty of light for this shot, as I really wanted the Autumn colours to stand out and be the main focus. Luckily it was a bright and sunny day, for this time of year, so I was able to achieve what I wanted without any additional lighting.Equipment
It was shot using my Nikon Coolpix L330- ISO 80, F3.4, 6.10mm lens. I had no tripod or any other equipment.Inspiration
I am always drawn to simple things, so the wet leaf on a park bench stood out to me more than the pretty woodland area in the background. I like to experiment with different angles and using leading lines to draw attention to the subject. As a complete beginner, each day is a learning curve and I was pleased with the outcome of this shot.Editing
My main goal, when editing this photo, was to bring out the Autumn colours and make it pop. I was quite happy with the original, but used Lightroom to adjust the saturation, shadows and contrast.In my camera bag
Photography has always been an interest of mine, but I have only very recently started to pursue it, so my equipment is very basic. I own a Nikon Coolpix L330 and a Canon 350D with a 18-55mm lens (both given to me by a family member this year). As time goes on, I hope to be able to buy a newer model and a better lens.Feedback
The angle and depth of field was key for me when taking this shot. As practice makes perfect, I like to take between 5-10 shots at different angles, making sure that I am facing away from the sun to avoid a glare. One outing can turn into a full memory card (and a very low battery!), but one slight change in angle can completely change a photo, so out of the 9 I took, this was the only one that I was happy with.
