I took this photo in the comfort of the clients kitchen!Time
This was in the afternoon, when baby was was in her best spirits, according to Mom!Lighting
This lighting was a combination of natural light and a 10” Ring light! I also used a fill that I bounced off the ceiling.Equipment
I used a canon 6D Mark ii and a canon 40mm.Inspiration
This was an idea we came up with last second in between changes. I just thought wait, this could be adorable!Editing
I always shoot in raw format and post process using ps6. I didn’t have to do much though, tweak the lighting a little And that’s about it. I wanted this photo as natural as the way it was taken. In my camera bag
I have a canon 6D mark ii and a Canon 60D for a backup. I usually have about 3-4 different Lens’s with me.Feedback
My best advice for this style of photography is planning. Make a story board of poses (stick figures work). Plan your entire shot ahead of time, look up poses and what others have done and then think of your own ideas from that inspiration. Plan your lighting and test it ahead of time. You don’t want over expressed pictures and highlights you can’t get rid of during post. Find a friend and bring them over for practice. My best advice is to always look prepared and fill the space you’ve given for the shoot. A clients word of mouth is an essential business asset! As for the actual photos you take and provide your client with; always give your best work. If you’re waffling on a photo being “likeable” chances are the client will too. Have fun with it, capture emotion and keep shooting.
