Raining Season in my hometown, I always wanted to try Long Exposure Photography but I had no tripod so I free handed this long exposure of about 15 seconds while standing on my balcony, as you can see the city got out of focus but the lighting bolts remained in focus.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my balcony which overlooks the small city I live in.

Time

It was around 6:30pm the sun was just about fading away

Lighting

Well as I can recall I've always wanted to try and capture a long exposure shot of lightening it always looks very cool in my area

Equipment

I used my Nikon D5300 with a 18-55mm Nikon kit lens no tripod stand, shot handheld long exposure

Inspiration

The inspiration comes from looking at many Long Exposure shots and wondering how they are possible back when I didnt know about I've always wanted to be able to capture one and thats when I learnt how it works amd decide to try out lightening as my first attempt.

Editing

Yes I have done some post-processing i added little bit of clarity so to lightening bolts could be more visible and just lightened to bolts and make the surround sky little more darker.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Nikon D5300 with my 50mm Prime Lens and 18-55mm Zoom Lens, both UV Filter and Polarizer Filter, Lens Hood, Lens Cleaning Kit and a back up Memory Card

Feedback

My advice is always make sure your equipment is covered if they are not weather sealed but even so just cover them to be safe, never shoot from higher areas where lightening is attracted to this included standing under trees, always carry a tripod stand with you for Long Exposure shots, make sure your ISO number is low to avoid digital noise, bump up the Aperture number as well to get everything in focus.
