I took this photo at my home in Mason County, WV. It had been a long day at work that day and I decided to take a short walk just before “golden hour” and when I saw it, I had to snap it!Time
Just before golden hour on a cool November evening. I had thought about taking the dog with me but had I I probably wouldn’t have got the shot.Lighting
The long gravel road always makes for a nice composition when the trees and sunlight collaborate together. It’s a driveway the runs a 1/4 mile between two rural properties, so there’s just you and the woodland between usually. Just so happened there were enough oak and other leaves that complimented the orange glow the setting sun was giving off.Equipment
No special equipment used for this photo. It was captured with my iPhone 11 using the standard camera app. The Aperture was f/1.8, ISO 32, Shutter 1/132, and Focal Length 4.25/1.Inspiration
Some of the best shots I’ve taken have been the unexpected ones. I have always been drawn to sunrise and sunset photography in whatever setting the composition might be, because you never see the same one twice. There’s always something unique about each one, even if only subtle things but I’ve always appreciated the beautiful sky they create. The way the sun was positioned in relation to the road, it begged to be captured!Editing
Simple adjustments were made with the onboard enhancements the iPhone provides. I was fortunate the lighting and color cast did not need much stretching. In my camera bag
I typically use a Canon T6 with assorted lens for numerous things, most especially of late—Astrophotography.Feedback
Golden Hour is key. Using apps like Astrospheric, Magic Hour, PhotoPills, and others.. you can hone in on the perfect times to capture these, or if you’re lucky.. just take a evening walk!
