Location
This was taken close to my home, on the River liffey in Dublin, IrelandTime
It was a beautiful autumnal day, and as I flew the drone along the river, enjoying the autumnal tones, I suddenly caught my breath as this lone rower came into view, gracefully rowing up the river... each stroke in the water visible from above in the trail of ripples in the rowers wake.Lighting
Often in Ireland it can be quite overcast, but this particular afternoon was quite clear. The autumnal afternoon lends the sun to cast shadows but I chose to shoot while the sun followed the line of the river to enhance the tones on the riverbank.Equipment
Shot with a DJI Mavic pro 2, it has hasselblad camera on board which gives fantastic range and exposure control.Inspiration
I love the tranquility of the river, and the lone rower gives an extra sense of serenity.... wouldnt you just love to be that rower!!!Editing
Yes, I usually post process to enhance the image. In the case I used Nik Colour Efex to enhance the autumnal tones. In my camera bag
Usually the Canon 5D mkiii, with 16-35, 100-400 and 24-105 lenses. I always bring my drone too, and you never know what you will see till you are actually up there.... it brings a whole new dimension to photography. Best to shoot with a drone on a very calm day: no wind, and in good lighting. Be safe and keep it in your line of sight at all times. And remember to stay clear of hazards till you have mastered flying: drones water and trees dont mix very well if you're a learner pilot!!
