Best time w/ kids in general is during the mornings, when they are still "willing" (if they decide to do so) to cooperate, easy to drive them wherever you wanna lead the shootingLighting
Pretty simple speedlight setting, 1 main light using a difuser pretty close to the subject and 1 background (behind the cloth) to simulate natural light coming from a window. Some cases i use a grid to point at the back head opposite side from the main light.... but not in that caseEquipment

Keep it simple, sometimes is better to do it right than adding multiple variables that makes it more difficult to control, one step at a time and add variables when really needed
