I took this photo outside of a motel in Picayune, Mississippi back in October. I was actually leaving to go somewhere when I saw the flower, and on a whim decided to take a photo of it.Time
This was in the late afternoon, I believe...somewhere around four or five o'clock.Lighting
The sun was just beginning to set, but I attempted to position myself at an angle where the lighting was still somewhat decent. It took a couple of minutes before I was happy with where I stood, but I was able to get a photo I was satisfied with.Equipment
I used my Motorola E6 cell phone camera. Nothing else was used.Inspiration
The flowers were much too pretty to ignore, so on a complete whim I decided to take a photo I thought would be interesting.Editing
I'm very, very new to photography and post-processing, but I felt I needed to darken the bloom a bit because in the original picture it looked a bit washed out. I also darkened the shadows slightly so the leaves and bloom would stand out a bit more.In my camera bag
The only equipment I have is my cell phone.Feedback
As a beginning photographer, I guess the only thing I can really say is that you shouldn't overthink things. Good pictures can sometimes come at the spur of the moment. Also, don't be afraid to experiment with different positioning.
