Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the courtyard of a restored industrial building in my hometown of Athens GA.

Time

Late morning with just enough sunlight reflecting into the water below the walkway I was in looking down, waiting for the right fish to be in the right spot.

Lighting

I like to see sunlight create interesting shapes and patterns in water. This was taken from a height of about 15 feet looking down into a rippling Koi pond. The moving water manipulated the the indirect sunlight coming in to from really cool swirls and motions.

Equipment

Just a basic android phone held out over the rail a bit.

Inspiration

Again, I've taken several neat shots of indirect sunlight reflecting in water. This one reminded me of the swirling clouds of Jupiter or an Arctic ice flow from which the Koi swam.

Editing

Just some white point upticks and shadow/blackpoint adjustments to bring some of the swirls into better clarity.

In my camera bag

camera phone...(would love to have a more professional camera again), but have taken some good photos with what I've got.

Feedback

I look for the cool and unusual in perhaps the most ordinary of subjects. I like to create a special piece from what others may pass by unknowingly; look for the nuance and opportunity wherever you are.
