Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during one of my Autumn walks in the UK, near the Scotney Castle. I really love these walks, as I am an October born, so I love the this season, and I love to capture its colours. I am a self taught photographer who's favourite subject is nature, and I really want to take the time and opportunity to take photos of the beauty that surrounds us still.

Time

It was taken in the afternoon, the weather was very gloomy, even though it was not even that late. Sometimes it is very hard to take a really colourful photo when the weather is grey, so let me say I was really determined to look for something in the woods without a good light.

Lighting

I was waiting like 30 minutes for sunshine to come my way, but it never did, so I took this photo using flash first - but it just became so bright and the contrast was not as great as in real life, so I decided to take this photo without any extra light source whatsoever with the following set up: Shutter speed 1/30 Aperture f/9 Focal length 260 mm 35mm equivalent 390 mm ISO 560

Equipment

This was shot with a NIKON D7100, with Nikon 18-200mm VR lens, without flash, tripod or anything extra.

Inspiration

The contrast that this photo has by nature! And another good opportunity for another macro. :)

In my camera bag

I always have NIKON D7100, with Nikon 18-200mm VR lens and also with a 55-300mm lens.

Feedback

Be patient when you look for something, it might not come towards you in the first 10 minutes, and also keep your eyes wide open to find for example outstanding colours, good contrast, even in a dark and rainy weather - worth the patience and the wait! :)
