Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from a country bridge east of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. It’s a pretty view of Gordon Lake that made us stop on the bridge and back up!

Time

This was taken mid-afternoon, probably around 3 pm

Lighting

I loved the lighting because although many people prefer bright sunny skies I always say that “clouds are my friends”. In this case there was still enough light to get the reflection and have the background show the lake and the low ceiling of clouds.

Equipment

I used my Canon 80D with the 18-135 mm lens, used the bridge railing to steady myself.

Inspiration

We drive the back roads East of where we live, beautiful farms, fields, streams and lakes. As I said we stopped at the middle of the one lane bridge when we saw this tree over the water.

Editing

I did a little cropping and corrected the lighting. I didn’t think anything else was necessary.

In my camera bag

I carry my Canon 80D, my 18-135mm Canon lense, my Canon 75-300 mm lens and my trusty 15+ year old Canon Rebel XT

Feedback

Yes! Especially if you’re a passenger! Don’t be afraid to ask the driver to stop, back up, turn around...if you see a shot and it gives you “that feeling” then speak up! Take multiple pictures, play with light, speed, fstop
