Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the National Park of Sierra Nevada, Granada, Spain.

Time

My brother and I were having a walk after lunch at the countryside when the sky turned beautiful previous to the sunset. I asked him to appear in the photo and that was the result!

Lighting

The difficulty of this shot was about exposing properly the sky because the highlights were still intense.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D7200, Tamron lens 17-50mm, Manfrotto tripod 290 light.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the majesty of this national park. The interest of this photo was greater when placing my brother in the foreground, to magnify the beauty and dimensions of the landscape.

Editing

The photograph is a composition of three vertical images, joined using the Lightroom software. The generated raw was revealed in this same software through small corrections in the highlights through degraded filters.

In my camera bag

Normally I usually carry a single camera body (Nikon D7200) with the 17-50mm lens in my bag, in addition. I usually use three screw filters, a 10-stop neutral density, a 3-stop filter and a polarizing filter. When I go out to photograph fauna I usually wear a 150-500mm sigma lens.

Feedback

For landscape photography, the main thing is the light conditions: it must be optimal for the image you want to take. It is advisable to be accompanied by a friend to help to compose the shot, in this way you can capture the magnitude of the landscape.
