Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in the living room of the apartment where I lived.

Time

This was taken in the morning as the light flooded into the room

Lighting

The use of white sheets performing as reflectors to minimise shadows and create a brightness in the darker areas of the face due to angles as it was a challenge as well as the split mirrors added in the light to

Equipment

This was taken with an old 35 mm pentax, no flash and then shot the paper print with the phone. A shot of a shot

Inspiration

Play with reflections... To observe how one looks at their own reflection in the mirror as I had these strips hanging around the house and one day it came to me to do this exercise with a dear friend and muse.

Editing

Firstly in the lab to get the white balance of the black and white, to the way I liked as well as the grain on paper. Then the digital shot was to give the tone to a pinky sepia.

In my camera bag

My faithful phone that pretty much gets the job done, no flash or extra light as have never enjoyed artificial lighting especially flash

Feedback

A play with angles, light, & reflection, if you have any mirrors lying around
