At Downpatrick Head there is a sea stack known as Dun Briste. According to legend, it was separated from the mainland during a conflict between Saint Patrick and the chieftain named Crom Dubh who refused to take the new Christian religion. When Patrick struck the ground with his crozier, the stack where the Chieftain stood, separated from the mainland, leaving Crom Dubh isolated from his people and stranded on the stack, where he died!
