Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during a holiday in the Northern Cape region of South African at a game Lodge called Bonza.

Time

It's during April when the autumn weather puts up spectacular displays in the heavenly realms. The area is known it's majestic thunderstorms during that time of the year. It was late evening after a hot day in the veld, when the thunderstorm came rolling in around 5ish pm.

Lighting

No additional lighting was used other than the natural light.

Equipment

I took this shot with a Canon 5D 24-105mm/f3.5

Inspiration

I was trying to capture some wild life which was faced the opposite way of this view. However, when the rumbling sounds of thunder caught my attention, I turned around and was delightfully astonished of what I saw.

Editing

Lifted the darker shadows.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D + 24-105mm lens and 50mm and of course my tripod.

Feedback

This was an unexpected find. But if your into landscapes and dramatic cloud displays, consult your weather app and look for wide open areas. Mornings and evenings are the best shows. Take a rain coat just in cast and weather proofing for your gear. Just in case.
