Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo just outside of my home. It is a young Citrus and limonia, or Citrus reticulata hybrid, a tree that I grew from a single little seed myself.

Time

It was a time period between 3 and 5 pm. I went out of my house to breathe some fresh air, but couldn't simply pass by these fresh, green leaves, had to immortalize nature with my camera.

Lighting

The weather was dull and cloudy. The freshly-passed drizzle covered the leaves with tiny droplets. The cloudy atmosphere made my photo a bit underexposed, which was my initial intention. A perfect balance between nature's gloomy weather and the freshness of greenery.

Equipment

I used Canon EOS Rebel t5i with ef-s 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

My source of inspiration can be found in my improvised garden. Gardening, together with photography, is my little hobby, which keeps me sane and productive. You can't go wrong shooting nature.

Editing

Yes, I did. One of my favorite parts of the whole photography process is post-processing pictures in Photoshop. I played with some color filters, balancing the saturation of green. I also edited the curves, revealing the dark/light parts of thew shot through the luminosity layering. It was also important to find the perfect amount of detail sharpness, yet not to make it too crispy.

In my camera bag

Just my Canon camera. Sometimes I also take a lightweight point and shoot Samsung camera, which allows me to shoot something fast.

Feedback

Go with the weather. The combination of clouds and time after midday makes the picture look incredibly appealing.
