I took this photo in my home studio/garage. From the hair and costume, to the posing and editing I took great care in selecting everything myself. I am a self-taught photographer and am growing my skills with every new shoot.Time
This was taken in the early in the morning hours. I remember my subject having had a terrible headache which turned out to work in our favor as her expression made this image perfect and better than I had envisioned it!Lighting
In my studio I used one source of light only. My trusted Octobox for a soft and low-key lighting effect.Equipment
I love using my Canon 70D and avoid using a tripod as much as possible as I am able to move freely and capture unique poses which are less "stiff" and reflect a more natural look.Inspiration
I often shop in thrift stores and stumbled upon the night gown the beautiful young lady is wearing in this image. This vintage inspired gown got my creative juices flowing and inspired this beautiful image.Editing
To create a painting type feel, I softened most of the image while keeping the facial features in focus. In my camera bag
My go-to equipment are my Canon 70D and Sigma 24-70mm lens!Feedback
Keep it simple and classic. Be in the moment and move with your subject to capture a more natural feel and let your subject inspire you as you go.
