Behind The Lens
Location
I took this shot in Nyhavn harbor, Copenhagen. I was standing at the bank opposite where the restaurants were.Time
It was around 6:30 pm. the twilight hour; also it was the month of September. As it's a Nordic country, the length of the day becomes even smaller in September.Lighting
I was losing daylight quickly. I decided to put my pieces of equipment and started looking at the famous landscape with different compositions. I didn't want to lose the light at the twilight hour. For me, post-sunset light conditions are the best. The reflection looked as smooth as ever. I played around with different ISO values for half an hour and finally, I got what I wanted.Equipment
I use Fuji XT-20 for traveling. My choice of lens is Fujifilm Fujinon XF 16mm F1,4 R WR. I love Manfrotto tripods so I use a very basic model for lightweight and easy go. I don't prefer flash.Inspiration
Since my trip to the capital of Denmark was a short one, I looked through images at different photography websites to find out what can I capture in Copenhagen amid different options. Everyone recommended that I should not miss the Nyhavn reflection. So this particular image caught my attention and I was like I have to take this shot.Editing
I used minimum post-processing with Adobe Lightroom to give it a bit of HDR look.In my camera bag
I always carry a basic Manfrotto Tripod, an ND filter, my Fuji XT-20, and Fujinon XF 16mm F1,4 R WR lens. Apart from these, I try to carry a basic lens cleaning cloth, a bottle of water, my iPhone (where I actually click so that I don't distort the long exposure compositions), two extra memory cards, two extra batteries (as Fuji XT-20 is mirrorless and the size of the batteries are really small), battery-pack for iPhone.Feedback
I would say do tons of research first. After you are done with your research, prepare a checklist of items you want to take with you. First, gather your pieces of equipment (choose the correct lens and filter), then check the weather conditions, reach early to the location, set your tripod, play around with different ideas, set your focus points, try different ISO values, and finally concentrate on the final outcome.
