The photograph you are enjoying is taken at the Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater in Menomonie, Wisconsin. It was named after a young woman by the name of Mabel Tainter. She died at the age of nineteen and her parents commissioned the theater to be built in 1889. It was to serve as a performing art center, and it still is to this day.Time
My daughter was attending college at he University of Stout, which is an hour from Minneapolis, and about four hours from Madison, Wi. Of course we had to tour the theater because of its unique history. So after walking around campus we headed to the theater and we fell in love at first step inside. It is fashioned in the Victoria era and it was awesome to experience itLighting
The theater was lit with a few lights, and when I took a number of photos I relied on the natural lighting so one could feel the richness of the environment. Nothing artificial.Equipment
To be honest with you I have had a number of cameras, but I think this particular photograph was taken with a canon, but nothing fancy. No flash or tripod was used, just the richness of the moment and a happy trigger finger. I’m sure I snapped more than one, inside and out. The outside of the building was very majestic as well.Inspiration
My daughter had been pumping up this museum like theater forever. Since it is on the National Register and is a Wisconsin Historical Marker building, it was a place I had to visit. I’m not remembering exactly this information but there was a celebration of Laura Ingalls Wilder connection, perhaps featuring the historic highway following her life in the Wisconsin and the Midwest. At any rate they were featuring her life in another section of the building. Visiting the theater was a lovely experiential experience I’ll remember forever.Editing
No post-processing. It seems a bit dark but it was a bit dark in he theater. So I could have lightened it, but chose not to. I thought the natural lighting brought out the beauty. In my camera bag
I am a dyslexic, so I am always viewing the world through an artistic lens. I see beauty everywhere and always. Lately, I have to say, I keep my iPhone camera handy and have editing tools at the touch of a button. Photography is a hobby of mine, and I love it.Feedback
I believe that others do have similar examples of beautiful photography art. Perhaps I was lucky with this one. But it is one of my favorites, maybe because of the whole experience. The other thing is, God’s beauty is all around, and you just have to put your soul into it and be mindful of the moment at any given time. Humble appreciation will be afforded you.
