I was with my wife on a tour of a distillery called Heaven Hills in Kentucky.Time

Sometimes as a photographer, your eyes just light up when a scene unfolds before you. I instantly knew that the window light playing off the incandescent light bulb, and the repeating patterns to no end owuld make a great shot.Equipment
Canon EOS 30D, Canon ef 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. Handheld, not artificial lightInspiration
As I rounded the corner of the hallway, and seeing the repeating patterns of light, the barrels, the vanishing point, and endless leading lines, I was so excited to take this photo. Even though that was very early in my photography journey, it still is one of my favorites.Editing
I did do some post processing. I did some HDR techniques to really bring out the grain and contrast in the wood barrels and floors. The other major thing I did was push the white balance to closely match the incandescent tone of the light bulb. I have 2 other edits of this same photo. One as black and white, and the other white balanced to match the daylight. This one is still my favorite. In my camera bag
At that time, I just had a canon EOS 30D the ef 18-35 and a 75-300. My current kit consists of a EOS 5D Mark III and a Canon 5D Mark IV. I carry numerous lenses covering all the way from 8mm fisheye to 600mm. A also have 4 prime macro lenses as well.Feedback
Expect the unexpected. As I was walking to this non descript grey building I thought to myself "why did I even lug this camera along?" Then in that hallway, I was like a kid at Christmas, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The main point is, I didn't spend hours or days or weeks planning this. Sometimes opportunities for shots like this just happen. It's still up to the photographer to pull it off, just have to be ready to capture scenes at a moments notice!
