It was mid-afternoon around 3 PM local time, but the overcast sky didn't reflect the same.Lighting
The most important point to note about the lighting is that the overcast sky reduced the amount of light in the whole scene, but it also gave me the opportunity to contrast the vivid colors of the city with the dull, cloudy sky.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 80D, 18-55mm lens, no other equipment was used.Inspiration
My main inspiration to take this shot was that Gangtok was unlike any other city in India and I wanted to represent this uniqueness in a creative way, I always knew that Gangtok was a very beautiful city, and getting a good cityscape of it was a goal of mine. I had to improvise since there were no known viewpoints from where I could get a shot of the hilly cityscape. I took a chance with the ropeway and it paid off.Editing
Normally a landscape requires a lot of post-processing and especially for my theme, which revolved around contrasting the city's vibrant colors with the dull sky so, I reduced the highlights and reduced the contrast in the sky area to give it a dull, sad look. The buildings of the city were already colorful, I only increased their vibrance to make them pop out and get this great final look of the contrasting city and sky.In my camera bag
Usually, I carry my EOS 80D, the two kit lenses, and the nifty-fifty 50mm f1.8 prime. On trips, I like to carry my lens cleaning kit as well.Feedback
One thing that I would like to advise others which I haven't mentioned till now is a proper composition, which adds the cherry on top in this shot. The road and the wires of the ropeway act as good leading lines, following which a viewer explores the gorgeous city.
