The photo was taken from my colleague, Abhishek's apartment on 25th Floor close to Bakrie Tower in South Jakarta. I got a company of friends who turned photographers by passion, although they are into some other professions. My friends made a huge impact on me, shaping myself as a Photographer.Time
This is one of my recent shot while reinventing myself as a photographer after a short period during these Lockdown times. This was taken on 28 August 2020 around 20:30.Lighting
Lighting is a key factor in creating a successful image. The source of the light/the place its coming from - has a huge impact on how it falls on your subject. Lighting determines not only brightness and darkness, but also tone, mood and the atmosphere. Luckily for me, the time played a lot of importance here – there was a lot of artificial warm lights from other sky scrapers aroundEquipment
Canon 5d Mark III Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM II Hoya 82mm Pro-1 Digital CPL filter. Excel Mini Platinum Tripod ( Leased from my friend)Inspiration
I was trying to find out a way to continue photography keeping the norms of social distancing. So Night life became my favorite area of interest these days.Editing
Developed the RAW image with basic image editing profile for night life.In my camera bag
I use 5D Mark 3 ever since my favorite Canon 1Ds Classic went on repair. Like most of the photographers, i love the the fast lens triads, the 16-35mm(Canon), 24-70mm (Sigma), 70-200mm(Canon) Plus the nifty 50mm (Canon). I use 90mm(Tamron) for Macro. Another interesting one is Rokinon 8mm Fisheye which remains in my shelf these days unless i am planning exclusively some landscape shoots. Filters are unavoidable accessories for any photographer. I use B+W ND filters, Hoya Circular Polarizer and few step up rings which makes it compatible with all my lenses.Feedback
The Golden advice to every photographer - Be patient! The secret to a good photo is through the art of storytelling. The difference between a ‘good’ photo and a ‘great’ photo is often in the story the image conveys. This can be done in just one photo, or a series of frames. If you want to take your photography to the next level, the ability to create an engaging photo story is something you need to adopt. I try to be as creative as possible towards everything I endeavor. One thing I tried new in this photograph is adding Circular Polarizer and it worked great giving a warmth to the photograph that I was looking for. Always make sure you have a good tripod, especially when capturing skyscrapers, I always try to stay at height - at least half the height of the subject buildings.
