As the moon was rising and there were a bunch of Cormorants on the trees, I imagined this shot. But it was hard to get. I had to find a spot where I could align the birds with the moon. At 500 mm, I hardly had margin of movement of about 2 cm so that the birds stay within the moon, and I was shooting handheld. Then I had to wait in the awkward position till the birds posed.

I took the photo at a lake park in Minneapolis MN, USA.Time
This is late evening when the moon was rising up over the horizon.Lighting
It was pretty close to dark but that didn't matter as I already had this shot in mind and had an idea how I want it to look after post processing.Equipment
Nikon D500 with 200-500mm lens, handheld.Inspiration

Yes little adjustments in lightroom, some cropping and cleaning up.In my camera bag
Nikon D500 and 200-500mm is all I have.Feedback
I was shooting herons in the lake but was just open minded and reacted when I saw the moon rising. I guess being aware and reacting to situations is important.
