Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken last summer in the bathroom at the model’s house, in Bergamo, Italy. We met in London at university, where we both study BA Photography.

Time

It was probably around midday, on an August day. I remember it was a cloudy day so we decided to shoot indoors.

Lighting

Natural light from the window ( very soft since it was cloudy) and I used a soft box to focus the light on the top side of the subject.

Equipment

Nikon D850 with a 24/120mm lens.

Inspiration

We wanted to create something together with a touch of fantasy and water. The first idea was to do it at the lake but the day wasn’t inviting so we stick to what we had at home.

Editing

Basic retouching on Lightroom

In my camera bag

Nikon D850, 50mm/35mm lenses, a film camera, either a Canon AV-1 or a Mamiya 645. Two pair of flashes, a LED light, tripod, batteries, cleaning kit...

Feedback

Well, if you wanted to give to the water some color, you can add some bath salts and a bit of milk. Then just use your imagination! I personally think previously on what I’d like to achieve so I look for references and I create a mood board. Then, once you start shooting and testing everything flows!
