Behind The Lens

Location

Bodiam Castle is located in Bodiam, Robertsbridge, England.

Time

The photo was taken on December 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the afternoon.

Lighting

Bodiam Castle was captured with natural light. I was hoping for a sunny day but the weather was overcast and gloomy, which added to the ambience. Waiting a few minutes or coming back to the same scene within 30 minutes to an hour can change the mood and lighting and is really cool to see when reviewing your photos.

Equipment

Leica D-LUX 3. No lens, tripod, or flash. Just straight up. Colour space: RGB Focal length: 6.3 mm F number: f/4.5 Exposure: Normal Exposure time: 1/200

Inspiration

I was awestruck with the beauty of Bodiam Castle and how still the surrounding was. This stunning medieval 14th-century moated castle is worthy of a photograph. How can one resist!

Editing

I transferred the photo to my my iphone where I used Hefe filter to add a little bit of mood.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Leica D-LUX 3 when travelling and especially when in open landscape environments. In cities, I tend to just use my iPhone 11.

Feedback

Look at the scenery as a canvas and your eyes view through the camera as the paintbrush. I truly believe it is the artist behind the camera that captures a moment. Take numerous photos of the same scene in case a captured shot comes out blurred or there is a change in weather and lightening. It is always better to have a few options of photos to choose from than just one. For those that are old enough to remember, once upon a time, you took a photo and had to wait for the development to only be pleasantly surprised or disappointed.
