Behind The Lens

Location

On the Norfolk Broads in Norfolk Uk.I was on friend boat passing by ,so it was point and shoot taken many years ago on a canon 7D probably set on aperture priority

Time

Probably late morning 11 ish Early summer

Lighting

No

Equipment

Canon 7D 28-70mm lens

Inspiration

I’m always taking photos The saying the best camera is the one with you.You don’t need the best or expensive equipment I get fantastic results on a phone camera and just shoot all the time And see what I come home with after Sometimes I might get a few good photos other times none I’m happy for a photo day out to get at least 6 good photos

Editing

Please see below in advise

In my camera bag

My bag is becoming more and more my pocket so it’s an Apple phone If I go out for a particular photo shoot then I pick up my camera bag Which is always ready to go apart from checking battery life I don’t take lens in and out I just take the whole bag

Feedback

first of all I would like to point out the best camera is the one with you at the time Over the years I had many cameras as I’m very keen amateur photographer and specialise in the maritime offfshore oiland gas industry See more at web site D.styles.images and flicker See links below I use ViewBug to show my other photos I shoot with a DSLR canon Mk111 This particular photo was taken many years ago and was either on a phone camera Apple or canon 7D This was actually taken from a boat as we passing so it was literally point and shoot But any camera even phone camera one must learn the settings ,aperture Lens depth of field ,focus speed etc This is the most important thing then after that start to learn the rules of photography eg rule of thirds leading lines , use of light etc The next thing is learn development the old days it was a darkroom eg dodging and burning etc Today it’s great we have so many apps and this is your darkroom some are free eg Snapseed by google is a great app to use even the editing tools and filters on your phone are very good today I take thousand of pictures and spend countless hours playing around with them in my digital darkrooms (laptop,iPad and do a lot on my Apple phone some times it works some don’t But the beautiful thing is it’s digital and free to experiment Its practising what each tool does and how it changes the image This particular photo was colour and just used a free app to change it to BW I always start when it was the original in colour Changed the whites and blacks contrast sliders brilliance ,shadows, vibrancy, warmth, maybe tint ,sharpness then cropped and last straighten Crop out any unwanted distractions is important Then I probably changed it to B/W as I didn’t have enough B/W photos to show and lastly in BW adjusted using preset filters Just looking at the different filters and picking one I liked. It’s mainly practicing and experimenting what each editing tool does and how it changes the final image As they say practice makes perfect It’s learning all the editing tools that are out there and most are free as I said even on a Apple phone I get incredible results and didn’t need my expensive camera gear Please feel free to Watertown or edit my narrative so it fits in with your space allowed Final it’s good to hear feedback good or bad so We can see what other people like about there work. If I had a comment to make about ViewBug it’s the setting location It’s seems the site is geared for America,Canada And sometimes I can’t find a place or guess the county I’m using is correct
