Behind The Lens

Location

This is taken on a private beach on the Caribbean Island of Curacao

Time

I had booked a bonfire and Bbq for sunset for our local camera club. I had asked for the bonfire to be lit before sunset so it would be in full flow by the time the sun set.

Lighting

No extra lighting needed, but 2 stops underexposed and on Shade setting

Equipment

Sony a7R3 - with a Zeiss 16 - 35 mm

Inspiration

I love taking pictures at sunset on the beach - but we are very rarely allowed to have bonfires, this beach is private and made of coral stone, so no nesting turtles and no one to step on the hot embers once we had left - as the beach would be closed. So this made for the perfect opportunity to make and light a bonfire

Editing

Lightroom min post processing

In my camera bag

Normally just 1 camera and lens and water- I do a lot of beach family shoots - its hot and sandy so I just take the min I need

Feedback

Beware of the heat form the bonfire - don't get too close. We needed head torches afterwards - but a great night out
