This photo I took on a local day trip to Scotney Castle, this being the Old Scotney Castle, it's a favourite of mine, such a romantic setting, on a little island by itself, set in the local countryside with the newer Scotney Castle higher up on the hill looking out and down over this one as well as the surrounding estate.Time
This is my all time favourite photo of Old Scotney Castle, taken early one May day, I do prefer the early time of day, less people around & a little overcast gave it more of a romantic, mysterious, dreamy quality which reflected back in the water & you can see as well as feel where nature is slowly claiming it back.Lighting
I was very lucky on this day, the natural lighting was more than enough for my camera.Equipment
Nikon D5300 with Nikon DX VR AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm Lens, no tripodInspiration
It's a place I love, it speaks to me, the beauty of it at this moment in time made me wish to share it with others, for me a memory on my wall to enjoy forever & maybe others who view this photo it would reach out to, inspire them like it does me.Editing
This is how I took the photograph, I prefer to not edit, if I ever do, it is only to crop slightly, for I might want to bring the image in closer or to turn a coloured photo into black & white, so what you see in my photos are exactly as things are at the time I take the photo. I am no professional, though I started taking photos so many years ago, I still have my film cameras, why I don't edit, partially because I starting many years ago with film, but because nothing is perfect, yet it is, there is beauty all around us if we look, even scratches, scars, lumps & bumps, it also helps me to learn, to improve my basic photography skills. In my camera bag
My Nikon D5300, Nikon DX VR AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm Lens, Sigma DG 70-300mm, Cleaning Cloth, spare charged batteries, I try to keep it light, so its not often that I have my tripod & as my old tripod wasn't strong enough for this camera, I didn't take it.Feedback
Just go out there, have a play around with your camera, enjoy yourself, don't be afraid to try something different, no photo is a failure, its all about learning & enjoying yourself at the same time, don't forget to look completely around yourself, up, down, to the side, you name it, close up too.
