My little hamster died on July 19th. This photo was taken 3 days before. She is smiling if you look closely. Though she looked like she could have cleaned more, I took her out before she was done cleaning. She lived 3 years and 8 months...the longest any hamster I have owned has lived & much longer than her life span. She was so interactive with me. She had been ill twice last year but managed to pull through, she was ill again 2 weeks before she died & got better. Though I knew she was past her life span, and that she was ill the last day of her life, it still seemed like she was fighting to beat old age too & I thought maybe she would. I miss her so much.

I loved my gerbils and hamsters growing up.

My son got one in when he was in High School, when he left for college, I became it's parent. with the short life span of hamsters, I have had many. She was very special, more interactive, though I had others that were interactive too. They are easy to care for & give back a lot of love!

I still miss her. I keep planning to get another which I will at some point, but she left little paw prints on my heart, unlike any dog, cat, hamster or guinea pig I have had. She will be hard to replace. She was the cutest, loved having her photo taken too!
