Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on my home sit-out floor. The water droplets are on a compact disk and so as to get perfect results and lighting it was kept on the floor.

Time

This picture was taken during evening time, evening sunlight was shining directly on the water droplets on the disk, a torchlight was also used so as to get enough light as it was a reverse-lens macro shot.

Lighting

The picture is a reverse lens macro shot, and extra lighting was needed with the natural light so as to get the image clearly. For that torchlight was used, it was shone from the side of the shooting area. It was shone in a way that the diffraction patters were clearly shown on the disk, the angle of the camera was also changed whenever the light was not perfectly showing the patterns.

Equipment

This was shot on Canon EOS rebel t3i, using canon EF-S 18-55mm in reverse-lens mode so as to get the macro, torchlight was used for extra illumination, no other equipments were used.

Inspiration

This was taken for a photography competition in our college which was based on finding beauty in waste materials. I had some CDs as waste and thought of bringing something out of them. I searched in the web for some ideas and this idea crept into my mind after seeing macro photography of droplets and connecting it with the diffraction produced by the CD.

Editing

I accidentally took this in jpeg format and my options for editing was limited to basic light adjustments.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my cam, Canon EOS rebel t3i and canon EF-S 18-55mm lens. I also like to have my tripod with me, and these all are the equipments I have.

Feedback

Be patient, take time, analyse, try to take shots of something in every way possible. Sometimes the minute of difference like lying down than sitting can take the image to a whole new level. There is beauty in everything , we just have to explore and find it out. Never be bothered about the equipment you are using as its you who makes the frame what it is. peace.
