The city of Victoria in Canada is quite beautiful. It is the capital of the province. It is a picturesque city with a lot of natural beauty. It is 2 hours from Seattle by speed boat.

Pictured is the parliament building of Victoria built in 1893. This beautiful structure was designed by Francis Rattenbury, a 25 year old from England who had no formal training in architecture. The lighting on the building was applied at the direction of Mr. Rattenbury to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria.

On a sad note, this self-taught genius who went on to design numerous other buildings, left Canada in a storm of scandal. He was divorced, and ultimately murdered in England at the age of 68 by his second wife's lover.
