Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my photo studio in Caracas-Venezuela, i am a food photographer and i was trying to do a twisted splash for the first time.

Time

i spend the day before trying to build the set, i started to shoot at the afternoon, i used a tripod, a white background made it weeks before, i glue the coffee cups with silicone the botton, and the cup up side down i use fish nylon to hold it.

Lighting

i wanted all white, i just used one light (flash elinchrom) at the right side, white background and a white foam board to reflect the lighting, that it!

Equipment

i shot with my Canon 7D,canon 18-55mm, a tripod, one Elinchrom flash.

Inspiration

i loved splashes and i wanted to do something different, i saw a photo on pinterest and i decided to do it with my style, and the next step was with blue paint. It was a pretty cool experience, was a mess but very fun, i will do it again definitely.

Editing

yes, of course because i splashed multiple times to choose the best shot, in this case i think that i used 7 or 8 photos to compose later in photoshop

In my camera bag

i am a food photographer, my camera, tripod, brushes, wood sticks, water spray, tweezers, plasticine, packing tape, white/black foam board, 2 small mirrors.

Feedback

first, get the idea, find the props, choose the location if you are going to use natural light, build the set, use tripod because you need to compose later en photoshop, ISO 100, 1/250s, (with flash), shot many times as you need, the key is having fun! and the you finished maybe two hours later get someone to clean your mess... because is exhausted and you were probably tired. nah! just kidding. have fun!
