Behind The Lens

Location

Hello. I photographed this photo at home. A pandemic began and there was time for creativity and their projects.

Time

It was after dinner. I looked at the things I have in stock and wondered which ones could be used for the future shot.

Lighting

I usually use one light source. Soft box 60x90 cm. It stands on the left side. On the right is a small piece of Styrofoam. It reflects light perfectly. And next to it is a long plastic mirror. These are sold in Ikea. It reflects light from the softbox and makes backlighting in the frame. Draws highlights.

Equipment

In my projects I use a camera, this is Sony 7III . Lens Sigma 50 mm macro or Sigma 70 mm macro. The camera is usually mounted on a tripod. I use a laptop, in which I observe the construction of the composition in real time. An application from Sony is installed there. And I also see the footage. The control is carried out via a wire. As a light, I have the flashes of the Godox company. AD200

Inspiration

Since we were sitting at home, I decided to use the items at hand. And I wondered what kind of shot I could get. How objects can interact with each other. What is the most familiar action for them. As a result, I have collected a series of such pictures. And the shooting style itself, I like to shoot like that.

Editing

Of course, such pictures are post-processed. In the process of shooting, I shoot separately the background. Then some parts of the picture that I can't fix. For a part of the shot, a structure is created in which objects can be suspended on a fishing line or wire, or glued to each other with a glue gun. In the process of shooting, several frames are taken. And in Photoshop, then quickly merges into one file. I usually shoot quickly, so I just put some things in the place where they will later be in the final shot.

In my camera bag

Oh. My bag weighs ten kilograms. This is a backpack. It has three flashes of the year. one synchronizer. two lenses. two adapters for flashes on which I put modifiers. Photo clips, wire, tweezers, polarizing filter. notebook. Separately, in a long bag, I carry three photo stands and two softboxes.

Feedback

It all starts with a sketch. Then items are picked up. Next, you need to think about how you will mount them on your stage. Sometimes this process takes longer than the actual photographing. Use a tripod when shooting. And if possible, control your composition through the monitor. Don't forget to shoot a clean background. Do not change the lighting parameters during the entire shooting. Exercise. The more you shoot, the faster you do it. Fast processes, drops - shoot at low flash power. From 1/8 Luck.
