I took this at Asilomar Beach in my favorite cove.Time
The sun was beginning to set at 6:55PM.Lighting
I was standing between two big boulders in the water which gave me some AMAZING shade and framing. I barely had to edit this photo because of the positioning.Equipment
I used my Sony a6100 with it’s Sony Fe 16-55mm Zoom lens.Inspiration
My wife and I were playing in the waves at Asilomar. I was genuinely so content with the day already when I saw the perfect shot. The sun was shining so AMAZINGLY and the waves were crashing in a way that framed the sun perfectly. This is only one photo out of a series of shots. When I got these shots I literally shouted out with happiness and threw my hands in the air. My inspiration came from having so much fun with my wife playing in the waves. Sounds childish but it filled my being with such vigor and happiness. I captivated a personal goal that day by learning to use my f/stop system to make the sun rays “star” and I will never forget it.Editing
I used LightRoom to lighten and darken appropriately, but the way the sun was setting between the two boulders it provided such a cool natural shading. In my camera bag
I am a brand new very very low budget photographer. I have my Sony a6100, 16-55mm zoom lens, Sony E 55-210mm tele lens, a tripod, a mini tripod, and my pack of Focus lens filters. I’m saving to build for a new lens. I’m also saving for waterproof equipment. Yes I take these pictures and gamble with my cameras life.Feedback
You absolutely have to get into the water. You have to let go of any tension you may have. You absolutely have to have fun with these shots. Patience without expectation and the ocean walk hand in hand. I was taught to always leave my anxiety on the sand before I set foot in the ocean.
