Behind The Lens

Location

As I returned home from work I was greeted at my front flower bed by this beautiful Swallowtail. I quickly ran in my house and rushed upstairs for my camera, hoping it would still be there when I returned, and it was sill there. It stuck around long enough to get some really good shots, and this was the best one

Time

Image was taken around 3:30 in the afternoon

Lighting

The image was taken with natural sunlight as the only lighting

Equipment

RAW Image was taken with may Nikon D7500 and Sigma18-300 Contemporary DC Lens, natural light, no flash. Post processing done with Corel Aftershot Pro 3

Inspiration

I returned home from work and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph this beautiful butterfly. One of those cases of being at the right place at the right time

Editing

Post processing was done with Corel Aftershot Pro 3

In my camera bag

My D7500 is my primary camera. In my backpack I carry my D3200 as my backup camera, a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, Sigma 18-300mm Contemporary, Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 EX, Nikon 50mm AFS-G, and 18-55 Kit lens, spare battery for my D7500, Leofoto Ranger carbon fiber mini tripod, and a Nikon remote trigger.

Feedback

If you shoot in full manual mode as I do learn to adjust your settings quickly for unsuspected situations as these. There is nothing more disappointing than taking a series of images and finding out in post processing that your settings were way off. I always say, "master your tool, and it will reward you"
