Behind The Lens

Location

I took this at a park in Boise, Idaho. It has a beautiful walking trail with lots of ponds, that are always full of turtles and frogs. In the spring it’s always full of other wildlife also, like cranes and ducks. Plus lots of beautiful flowers and trees.

Time

This picture was taken about mid afternoon. I’ve realized that’s the best time to take pictures in this area. The wildlife is roaming a lot more.

Lighting

The sun was shining in a perfect spot, so I could get their reflections in the water pretty well.

Equipment

I just used my regular lens on my camera that I would use for portraits. It’s all I had on me that day.

Inspiration

The turtles were in a great spot for me to be able to take their picture, without me getting too close and scaring them off. I also thought they were super cute.

Editing

I don’t know a lot about photography so I don’t know what post processing is.

In my camera bag

Normally I just have my camera with a regular lens, and some extra SD cards. I have another lens that zooms in further, but I rarely use it. I’m a complete amateur to photography, so I don’t even know the specs on my lens.

Feedback

Just keep an eye out at all times, and be ready to click your camera. These kind of picture moments show up very suddenly and you definitely want to be ready, since they are animals and they get spooked easily, you want to be able to work fast with taking the picture.
