Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot of a potted kale plant, that was on my back deck, after an early morning rain.

Time

It was mid day.

Lighting

It was partially overcast.

Equipment

I am self taught so I was basically experimenting with my 70D and a new canon macro 100mm lens without an image stabilizer. I was surprised at how well it turned out because it was a hand held shot.

Inspiration

I liked the way the leafs of the plant created a tunnel like effect and framing.

Editing

In editing I increased the contrast and warmth, as well as sharpened it slightly. I was pleased to see the plant and sky reflected in the rain drops.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Canon 70D and my go to lens is a Canon 18-135 mm lens with image stabilizer. I have a back up battery. A lens cleaning kit comes in handy also.

Feedback

I think that an image stabilizer on the lens and a flexible tripod would be helpful for this shot.
