There are 150 menhirs and some dolmens (megalithic tombs) on mount Lozère, that make up the second largest concentration of erected monoliths in France. It is estimated that these stones were placed between the end of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age. It is considered one of the oldest human monuments in France.
