Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in an exit stairway with natural light next to a large frosted glass window.

Time

11:00 am

Lighting

Walking though the stairs every day, I checked the light streaming in for just the right time. The light was strongest yet softest between 9:45 and 11:30. My subject only had 10 min. break so we ran across the building and up 2 floors to take the shot.

Equipment

Nikon D750, Tamron 70-200mm (hand held)

Inspiration

The light

Editing

Lightroom -crop and vignette around edges. The white walls gave him a catch light in his eyes.

Feedback

Whenever you’re out in a memorable location, take note of the light and the time of day, so when you have an idea for a shoot you will know where and when you have the best light.
