I walked around campus taking pictures of the blooms. This particular tree looked amazing with the sky background and I chose to blur the background

We rarely receive snow in San Antonio, TX, and we had a very cold week, with several days of snow. I was looking out my window and saw about 8 cardin

With the quarantine keeping us at bay, a cardinal decided to nest in the bougainvillea by our front door.

Earlier in the summer, my rue plant had one swallowtail caterpillar that became lunch for a lizard. I found this small caterpillar and two eggs today

I grew up watching Swallowtail caterpillars eating our Rue plant. Now I have my own Rue plant and watching swallowtails become butterflies.

Being from Texas, I was able to stay with family during the Annular Solar eclipse. I was able to take shots during most of the event. This was my best one.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in our backyard. I was gardening the day before and noticed how this little fellow kept dropping by. The next day, I went out with my camera and took several shots. This one was my favorite.

Time

I took the picture somewhere about late afternoon to early evening.

Lighting

I preferred the late afternoon to evening sunlight.

Equipment

I used my 3500D Nikon with my 70 to 300 mm zoom lens.

Inspiration

I've always enjoyed taking pictures of wildlife, but with this photo, I was inspired because this little bird was not afraid of my presence.

Editing

I only cropped the photo to focus on the bird

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon camera, my zoom lens and a few filters, but I tend to not use my filters. I'm an amateur photographer, so I'm still learning.

Feedback

My advice is patience. I had to be patient and spent a lot of time in the garden so birds could become used to my presence.
