Behind The Lens

Location

We had just gone to the beach with the dog I hadn’t intended on taking any photos - I think I took this my my phone. It was getting later and I saw there was a photo to be taken of the steel works but I couldn’t get it right.. I walked quite far down the beach and my girlfriend went to get the car, she said she would pick me up further down the beach. Eventually managed to get the shot and to sun disappeared soon after, I think I was just in the right place at the right time.

Time

Sunset in March - probably around 6pm.

Lighting

I love sunset and sunrise photos, but I think the silhouette of the steelworks really adds drama

Inspiration

The Steel works are such an important part of the culture in the north east, everyone here is so proud of what we achieved, I wanted to take a nice picture of something industrial that’s generally considered to be ugly.

Be more prepared than I am, I wish I had the foresight to take my camera everywhere because I miss out on so many great shots.
