Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in autumn 2019 at Kirkjufell in Iceland. Magnificent place and great company. This was the second day of our trip.

Time

We went here quite early in the morning to catch the sunrise but was not possible, so I changed the point of view to include the waterfall in the shot. Was difficult to waker early as we went till very late waiting for the lady in green unsuccessfully.

Lighting

The real answer is nothing special, as we arrived, the wind and the time of the day made any previous plans to get any particular light was gone. I had very few minutes to get the shots as the wind was bringing some clouds from the right side that otherwise wopuld ruin the photo as was intended

Equipment

Nikon D850, Nikon 16-35 at 16mm, filter ND 6x, 5 seconds at f22. ISO 100 WB 6500. Camera mounted on a Manfrotto tripod.

Inspiration

The company, the once called friends, the memories of my wife recently gone.

Editing

I took three photos at -1EV, +1EV and correct exposure, in Photoshop I manually blended the without luminosity masks

In my camera bag

My Nikon D850 with a 3legged thing L plate, my Sony Nex7, an adapter to use Nikon lenses on the Sony camera. Nikon 16-35 f4, Sigma 14 1.8 Art for night photography, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, and Tamrom 150-600 G2. Manfrotto tripod with Really Right Stuff ball Head. NISI filter Holder and ND 2, 6, 10, and 16 filters. Five batteries, several 64GB Sd and XQD cards, lot of silica gel bags, and some towels and lens cleaning pads, a solar USB charger, and a minitool with allen, wrenches, screwdriver and pliers

Feedback

Iceland has so many places to enjoy photography, best advice, use your brain as the primary hard disk to store memories and images, photos will come later as soon as you get used to the place and the feelings
