In the early fifties, my parents brought me to the American Line. We gathered in a large room ... we were checked for our papers and medical records ... we used the bathrooms in the basement ... we climbed the steep stairs ... we stood in line ... we boarded the big boat. The boat ride took 15 days. Our small family of six, were placed in a far corner of the lower deck. A large storm descended upon us, we all became sea sick. The one small table and four chairs rolled over on the floor. We were afraid, but we did arrive in New York. All stood on deck as we approached New York. We raised our voices in triumph as we sailed towards the Statue of Liberty! We knew the meaning. Notice the tall building surrounding the American Line. Support and holding the dreams of the immigrants forever.
The contrasts in architecture in photo gave me cause for entry into contest. Imagine the trip ... enjoy the ride.
